During a visit to the Latin Builders Association Construction and Business Management Academy, Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush announced he is considering making a run for the White House in 2016.
“We were honored to have Governor Bush highlight the accomplishments of the LBA Academy during his only visit to a charter school during National School Choice Week,” said Guillermo Fernandez, President of the Latin Builders Association.
Bush visited the school, the first business charter school started by a business association in the United States, on Wednesday January 29, 2014, during National School Choice Week. He toured the state-of-the-art facilities and interacted with 9th and 10th grade Academy students.
“I am considering it and expect to make a decision by the end of the year,” Bush said in an interview with WPLG Local 10 reporter Michael Putney.
Bush, who served as Florida’s 43rd Governor from 1999 to 2007, is a champion of school choices for parents and hailed the LBA Academy, only in its second year, as being the only one of its kind, and a great example of how allowing for innovation and bring resources to a school can have an impact in students.
“The traditional high school setting does not work for all students and their families. Students are being left behind. Governor Bush’s visit underscores the importance of training our students for the 21st century economy,” said Bernie Navarro, Chairman of the LBA Academy.
