The Latin Builders Association, the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, welcomed hundreds to the 37th Annual LBA Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Downtown in Miami.
The awards was hosted by Univision 23 News Anchor and Reporter, Sandra Peebles. The ceremony started with a prayer to those affected by natural disasters in Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
President Alex Lastra took the stage and gave a special welcome to The Latin Builders Association Construction & Business Management Academy Charter High School students.
“Our school has been highly rated since its inception and was at one point Ranked #1 in Math Among all 728 schools.” said Lastra.
Afterwards, Lastra introduced LBA’s special speaker, U.S. Senator, Marco Rubio to the stage.
“Marco has been a supporter of the LBA for many years and even served on our LBA Board of Directors. Senator Rubio has been a great friend to the LBA, the LBA Academy and to our Industry and to all job creators from the moment he was elected to office.” Lastra said.
Rubio gave a speech on stage recognizing the organization for its outstanding work in the community. He also spoke about the relief efforts in Florida following the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Rubio also mentioned the efforts made in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria.
Late Cuban-American Developer, Jose Milton, was honored at the ceremony as well.
