Miami – Latin Builders Association President, Alex Lastra, along with LBA Board of Directors and Miami-Dade County officials held a signature breakfast at Bilzin Sumberg in Miami where they discussed the county’s transportation issues and how to effectively implement solutions to them.

Miami-Dade County Director of the Department of Transportation and Public Works, Alice Bravo, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority Director, Javier Rodriguez, Florida Department of Transportation District Secretary, Gus Pego were among the officials answering questions at the breakfast event.

“We need to make public transportation routes more effective.” Said Bravo.

“We have to make public transportation convenient.” Said Rodriguez.

Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Director, Aileen Boucle, explained to the crowd during a Q & A that “There is no reason why we shouldn’t successfully get federal funding for transportation.”

On Wednesday, A new Metrorail train was revealed by being assembled at the state-of-the-art Hitachi Rail Center. The facility will manufacture 136 rail cars needed to replace the aging Metrorail fleet.

The assembly of the Metrorail vehicles will begin this month, and the first completed vehicles will begin the qualification-testing phase by the end of the year, According to the Miami-Dade County Transportation and Public Works.
